Help The Blind Foundation, registered in Chennai, was founded in 2005. Today, it is being managed by a team of experienced bankers, academics and professionals on a voluntary basis and is supported by 40 plus volunteers and 32 dedicated staff members all over India.

Worked for 20 years with State Bank of India in various capacities in the North East region, New Delhi and Hong Kong. He then worked for 18 years as CFO with H. Daya International Co. Ltd., Hong Kong which is one of the top 5 Indian Trading firms in Hong Kong

Mr. R. Sunder Kumar

B.Tech / MBA, Madras University

Has worked  with  MNCs in Hong Kong & Africa besides India and  for over 35 years  in various international environments.
A well wisher of the Foundation for  over a decade,  he has joined as a Trustee  recently.
A native of Chennai, we are confident  that with his vast  experience  and  networking, it will help the growth of the Foundation .

Mr. S. Narasimhan

He has more than 35 years of experience having worked with Indian Overseas Bank in various capacities in India as well as in Hong Kong. He retired as the Deputy General Manager of Law & Recovery Department, Central Office, Chennai.

Mrs. Deepa Krishnamoorty

B.E. Chemical Engineering, MS Energy Technology and a certified English Teacher

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Energy Technology. She has worked several years in energy conservation. She also is a certified English teacher and has been involved in the foundation work for a long time

She is the first Visually Impaired M.Phil. graduate in whole of Tamil Nadu. She is formerly a professor of QMC. While in QMC, she was instrumental in starting BEC, Business English Course which is conducted by Cambridge University to train girl students in Business English. She is also the co-ordinator for EMET program in Chennai

He has 38 years of experience in banking both in India and UK. He retired as General Manager of Bank of India.

Mr. Nataraj Sankaran

Master’s degree, Madurai Kamaraj University, B.com., Saraswathi Narayanan College, Madurai.

He is an experienced Management Executive with over 35 years of management experience for a broad spectrum of companies. He worked in India, USA and Netherlands. His scope of leadership responsibility included international assignments with an emphasis on sourcing operations in Asia, Middle East, India and Indian sub-continent region. He was VP & MD of Ralph Lauren in India.

Sekhar is a global leader in strategy, consumer marketing and brand building, with 25+ years of corporate experience that spans China, US, Singapore and India. He has a wealth of experience in building people and organization capability across multiple cultures and  geographies, as well as leading transformational change and creating scale. 

His efforts with HTBF focus on outreach and the potential application of new and emerging technologies to the benefit of the visually impaired.


Poorvi Parek, CFA

Poorvi Parekh is an investment professional with 25 years of work in investment consulting with nonprofits and family offices. She has extensive experience in investment research, analytics as well as consulting.  

Ms Parekh was one of the founding members of USA chapter of HTBF, leading the initial incorporation and organizational set-up. She is based in Southern California where she actively supports a number of other charities.

Also a HTBF Hong Kong Director, Jignesh Raj has been associated with the foundation since inception.  Is mainly responsible for the foundation’s digital presence.


Prema Aier


Certified Public Accountant and in charge of Finance at Help the blind Foundation– America. Currently is Assistant controller at Mercy College, previously with Columbia University and Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. Also serves as Director of Sri Bharata Kamalalaya, an Indian Classical Dance School in New York.

Help the Blind Foundation Limited ( based in Hong Kong) is a charitable institution within the meaning of Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance.

Manju Vaswani serves as the Director of Sunshine Far East Ltd, an African trade and distribution company in Hong Kong, and is a Board Member of the Koshambh Foundation in India , which supports India-based initiatives that empower marginalised young women. Within her community, Manju acts as a connecter and facilitator, mobilising people and stakeholders to execute fundraisers and local community programs.

Jimmy has spent his entire working life in Hongkong and has had an interesting and varied working career, and he is presently Chair & MD of a Swiss based asset management company.  He has a passion for animal welfare, and is Chair of the Investment Committee of the Hongkong Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Mr Kan Hassomal Lakhani, a successful businessman, a long term resident of Hong Kong, is a director of Kayvee United Ltd.  He also serves as trustee on the boards of Jeev Daya Sansthan in both Bhopal and Ulhasnagar, Mumbai.
