STEM Mathematics Project: Rationale and Vision

  • Lack of tactile learning tools and accessible teaching methods.
  • Absence of trained educators in inclusive pedagogy.
  • Limited infrastructure in government schools for STEM subjects.

Embedding STEM within SIP ensures that students progress from foundational skills (via STEP-Up) to advanced academic competencies, opening pathways to STEM careers and breaking barriers in traditionally inaccessible fields.

Building Foundations for the Future

HTBF’s STEM Mathematics Project, in partnership with Vision Empower Trust, is pioneering inclusive math and science education for visually impaired students in Tamil Nadu’s government schools.

2024–25 Milestones

  • Implemented in four higher secondary schools (Thanjavur, Trichy, Arni, Poonamallee), using tactile tools and accessible teaching methods.
  • Secured Tamil Nadu government approval to appoint dedicated math and science teachers; six teachers onboarded.

Strategic Expansion (2025–26)

  • Extending to three middle schools in Salem, Madurai, and Pudukottai.
  • Strengthened leadership with Dr. Robinson (retired HoD, Mathematics, MCC) and Mrs. Rajashree Natarajan (former CEO, Cognizant Foundation) joining HTBF’s Advisory Board.
  • Titan Company Limited approved funding for SIP and STEM programs for 2025–26, endorsing HTBF’s mission to make STEM education accessible.

This initiative is laying the groundwork for inclusive STEM learning, equipping students with skills and confidence to pursue careers in science and technology.
